Opie’s Angels – Dad Needs Help [AUDIO]

Opie and his angels continue to give helping hands to those in need this holiday season. Our latest recipient is an 80 year old dad who needs a little help.

Hardship can strike anyone at any time – even the most proud of people. There are hundreds, if not thousands of people that need help and are too proud to ask for it.  Luckily there are people like Lisa that realized her dad could use some help – more than what she and her family could provide. Lisa reach out to us with this letter.

Dear Opie’s Angels,

I am nominating my dad for a hand up this year. He is in a hardship and struggling to get by. He is still trying to pay for my mom’s funeral from 2011. There was no life insurance to help with her final resting expenses. In addition to that, he is paying off her medical bills that were quite large. Dad struggles to pay his utility bill and has little or no money to buy groceries. There are months that he only has $25 to send to the funeral home – if that. I just wish for him to have a gift card for food, that would help him a lot. If your angels could send a helping hand to my dad, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!
Lisa

Dear Lisa,

Hardships strike people of any age and unfortunately, our elderly are some of the proudest people in America. The majority of them are too proud to ever ask for help – especially from their family. Many of them view it as a sign of weakness and asking for help is far from being weak. What your dad has gone through happens too often. Many of these seniors choose to barely eat one meal per day and scrape all their pennies just to pay their bills. We don’t believe anyone should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

Lisa, we will gladly help your father with $200 in groceries and another $200 cash that he can spend any way he feels he needs to. If it is to help pay bills, that’s fine. If he wants to buy himself something, that’s perfectly fine as well. This is just our way of thanking him for being a great dad and a loving husband.

Lisa and Charles, we hope you have a wonderful Christmas and thank you for allowing us to give you a hand up this holiday season.
