The Padres beat the Twins 5-4 in ten innings at Target Field Wednesday afternoon. The Twins fall to 51-61 on the season with the loss.

Closer Glen Perkins blew a save for the fourth time this season when he allowed a run in the top of the ninth inning. Anthony Swarzak took the loss for the Twins after allowing a solo home run to Seth Smith in the top of the tenth inning.

Trevor Plouffe led the Twins offense by going 2-4 with three runs batted in, including a two run home run in the first inning. Eduardo Escobar and Eric Fryer also had a pair of hits for Minnesota in the loss.

The Twins are at Oakland tonight. Yohan Pino gets the start for Minnesota against Oakland’s newly acquired ace Jon Lester. First pitch is scheduled for 9:05 PM.
