OK, today's the 5th day of my 30-day 'Sugar-Free Challenge' (no sugar, no sweeteners, no simple, starchy carbs, no alcohol) following my viewing of the movie 'Fed Up' Saturday. I've been getting lots of support and suggestions from 98 Country listeners on Facebook & email -- so let's take a look at them.

  • Lucille Black: Dang. I think I would shrivel up and die without sugar. Good for you Pete!
  • Phyllis Mosby: Let us know how it works.
  • Gretchen Hanson: NO ALCOHOL????!! <<< That's my mom of course.
  • George King: I'm with you Pete, challenge accepted. Just drank my last cup of coffee with artificial creamer and sweet-n-low. Already have my apple for lunch. Let's do this...because I'm pigging out on Thanksgiving!
  • Amy Lynn Smith: I know you can do this.....Alcohol is going to be rough, but you can do it.
  • Julia Robertson: I did for two weeks (along with starchy foods and dairy--because after all, those contains sugar too) and lost 8lbs and felt amazing! More energy, less brain fog, and overall feeling better. I need to get back on the wagon. You can do it! I havent seen the movie, but have done it for internal health allergy reasons. Research 'candida albicans' and see what havoc it has wreaked on our bodies and health. Sugar was once classified as a poison and no good has come from chemical sweeteners either. I could stand on my soapbox all day on these things but I wont. People need to learn for themselves. You should expect being crabby/irritable, headaches, tiredness, mood swings and a plethora of other symptoms of detox for the first few days. Hang in there. It does get better.
  • Christine Nelson: Does fake sugar count as sugar? I don't think I could do it. I don't care for food. Id live without it if I could but Pringles are a veggy, right?
  • Sara Kay Theisen: Was this video on Netflix or how can I get my hands on it?
  • Meg Korf: You said you are eating brown rice now! I googled to check up on arsenic in rice: brown rice 1 of the worst & even wild rice grown in MN. has a level 5 arsenic & white is same & brown maybe level 6---7  & some other rices!  What I learned to do to make hot dish is: You can dilute the arsenic out by cooking 2 cups of rice to 8 cups of purified water: bring to boil & simmer for 1 hour or less & stir!  You can add chopped onion initially, too! Then after the 1 hour & stirring with the simmering: Drain all excess water & strain as indicated! Then make your casserole & add: It could be chicken broth, organic Full Circles, brands with low sodiums or use any additives you like for soups &/or hot dishes: I could be a healthy Food Adviser---for DJ's & General Public listeners!  You all have interesting tips,(thank-you) & I thought you certainly could use this advice from a smart female through cooking a decade  + more than U! Good Luck---artificial sweeteners---also no good!

Keep the comments, thoughts and ideas coming. I still have 25 days to go!
