ST. CLOUD -- Two people have been arrested after a gun complaint on Cooper Avenue between 3rd Street North and Division Street on Thursday.

Sergeant Jason Burke says they received a report of someone walking down the sidewalk with a gun at about 4:15 p.m. After arriving in the area, a man matching a callers description ran from police.

Officers set up a three block perimeter around 3rd Street North, Cooper Ave, Division Street and 17th Avenue North.

Police eventually made contact with 20-year-old Enrico Howe of Zimmerman and arrested him. Officers found Howe had a gun that was modified to be a fully automatic pistol. Howe was taken to the Stearns County Jail to face felony weapon charges.

However, through investigation it was found that Howe wasn't the suspect who ran away from police and was likely unrelated to the original complaint.

Officers later found and arrested a 17-year-old boy from St. Cloud near 8th Street South and Washington Memorial Drive. The boy admitted to having a BB gun and running from police earlier.

The boy is being held at a juvenile detention facility to face charges of fleeing police on foot and gross misdemeanor weapons charges.

At the time officers told several local businesses to be put into lockdown for safety concerns.

Further investigation into this incident will be done by the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force.
