Police Investigate Death Near St. Cloud State University

ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud Police are investigating a suspicious death near the Mississippi River and St. Cloud State University campus.

Officers responded to a welfare check complaint, in the 10th block of 8th Street South just before 1:00 p.m. this afternoon (Friday).

When officers arrived they found an individual dead near the river.

Officers say there is no danger to public safety, and investigators are not looking for anyone in connection with the investigation.

Police have confirmed the individual is not a student or staff member of SCSU.

The identity of the individual is not being release until family can be notified.

The body is being sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
