The Twins jumped out to an early lead against Red Sox ace Clay Bucholz but watched it slowly trickle away in a 6-5 eleven inning loss in Boston last night.

The Twins scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning and could have done more damage, but Aaron Hicks struck out with the bases loaded to end the threat.

Hicks somewhat made up for the K by doubling home Oswaldo Arcia in the fourth for a 3-0 Twins lead.

The Sox got on the board in the bottom of the fourth on a solo homer by Shane Victorino, but Justin Morneau’s sac fly in the top of the fifth inning gave MN a 4-1 lead.

The Red Sox got one back in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Twins lead in half at 4-2, then added a run in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to one run.

Starter Vance Worley lasted five-plus innings for the Twins, allowing three runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and no walks.

Stephen Drew and Dustin Pedroia homered in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively, to take a 5-4 lead into the top of the ninth.

With closer Andrew Bailey on the disabled list, the Red Sox turned to Joel Hanarhan to finish the game. However, Brian Dozier hit a one-out, solo home run to tie the game at five and send the game into extra innings.

Drew’s RBI double off of reliever Jared Burton sent the Red Sox to victory in the eleventh inning.
