Reliving The 80s – The Commodore 64 Making A Comeback

Commodoreusa.net

Anyone that grew up in the 80s will remember playing games on the Atari and playing Oregon Trail on the giant floppy disks that you had to change out mid-way through the game. I spent many an hour playing Oregon Trail on a Commodore 64 and now, your kids can too – sort of.

A couple of years ago Atari made a comeback by offering their old look in a new system. The best part of the new Atari is that it came with a ton of classic games already preloaded on the machine.

Now the Commodore 64 is making a comeback. Later this month, Commodore USA will be releasing a computing system that looks just like the original C64 on the outside, but comes equipped with modern specs like a dual-core 1.8 GHz Atom processor, Nvidia Ion2 graphics chipset and up to 4 GB of RAM.

When the C64 debuted in 1982, it cost $595 – the same price Commodore USA is charging for its updated machine. Mouse and monitor are being sold separately. I just wish they would pre-load Oregon Trail on it so my character can die of dysentery again!

If you want a piece of this fully-functional nostalgia, you can preorder one on Commodore USA’s website.
