98 Country will feature a story each week of you and the furry friend that you've rescued! It can be your dog, cat, parrot, hamster, bunny, horse, cow, goat....you get the idea. If you've rescued an animal and made them part of your family, we want to hear from you! We'll kick off our Rescue Story Of The Week with a member of my family, Tito.

I was volunteering at a shelter in Allentown, PA when another volunteer, Lindsi, posted a picture of Tito on Facebook.

“We HAVE to rescue this little guy! He only has 2 days left at the shelter in Philadelphia”

So I offered to “foster” him for a couple of weeks until a home could be found. Lindsi and I made the trip to Philly—and out came Tito.

He was about 3 times the size that he appeared to be in his Facebook picture, but there was no turning back at that point.

Tito came home with me. And he was a handful.  We found out that he had been abused and neglected in his previous situation and had been surrendered when he bit someone.

He had fear aggression. While he loved every other animal (dogs AND cats), he was afraid of people. We worked with a trainer who told us that, more than anything else, Tito needed love and patience.

So that’s what we gave him. I knew at that point that it would be difficult to find a home for him, so he became part of our family. Fast forward two years. He has come a long way when it comes to trusting people, and he is now living a life that most dogs dream of!

Tito loves:  walks, rides in the car, treats, his fur sister Neena, his human brother Jem, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Lynn and Cousin Curt (he's still on the fence about several other relatives),  sitting in the lake (or any puddle of water he comes across), and once in awhile he loves to play. He didn’t know how to play before we met him. Crazy, huh?

If you have a rescue story, please share it with us!  Send a picture and your story to Cindy.
