The St. Cloud River Bats as we know them will be no more.  The St. Cloud Northwoods League team has changed ownership.  Gary Posch and Joe Sexton have become the new owners of the team. They have bought the team from Joel Sutherland.  Posch and Sexton are part-owners of the Willmar Stingers of the Northwoods League and own Brandl Motors together.

Posch announced at the press conference at the St. Cloud Holiday Inn that they will select a new team name, new colors and a new logo.  It’s unclear how the new name will be selected at this time but a decision will have to be made soon.  Posch also announced that former River Bats General Manager Scott Schreiner will hold the title of Vice President in this new organization.

Sutherland had owned the team since 1997 and won 3 Northwoods League Championships in his 15 seasons as owner.  The Bats won NWL titles in 1998, 2000, and 2008.
