The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team earned the top spot in the latest national college hockey poll released Monday by USCHO.com. The Huskies received 33 out of a possible 49 first place votes.

Previously top-ranked Minnesota lost in a shootout Friday at Michigan State before narrowly topping the Spartans Saturday by a 3-2 margin. The #2-ranked Gophers are now 12-2-2 on the season.

The Huskies have been ranked second in the last few polls, and moved up in the week's due to a dominating performance at Duluth this weekend. The Huskies squeaked out a 4-2 win at AMSoil Arena on Friday night before a more convincing 5-1 win on Saturday to improve to 11-1-2 on the year.

SCSU hosts Union December 13-14 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
