We thought Spring would never get here, but it’s coming in with a bang; literally as severe weather is still possible across 98 Nation tonight -- with a new round of severe storms firing up in Southwest Minnesota.

Central Minnesota is still under two types of watches. Benton, Sherburne, Stearns Counties and points north are under a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH and Kandiyohi, Meeker, Wright, Hennepin, Anoka Counties and points south are under a TORNADO WATCH. When a watch is issued, that just means you should closely monitor the weather for possible changes and potential storms moving in.

When a warning is issued, that means severe weather is imminent and you should seek shelter immediately.

One thing that we never have far out of reach in our home and in our vehicles is a NOAA Weather Radio. The value of these is immeasurable when it comes to keeping track of bad weather. They plug in, plus they have a battery backup in case of a power failure. You can buy them at most big box retailers and home improvement stores. The most basic model costs about $20.

If you don’t have a NOAA Weather Radio, you can also download the FLASH app. It’s an app that was created in conjunction with NOAA and FEMA to keep you informed of bad weather where ever you are. It costs $7.99 and is available for both the iPhone and Android.

As always, we keep a very close eye on the weather here at 98 Country and will be bringing you the latest weather information as we get it, so keep an eye to the sky and your ears (and eyes) right here on 98 Country.
