S’More Alternatives

Jen Jacobs

I love s’mores, but I can only eat so many in one bonfire season, so here are some alternatives to the traditional summertime treat.

I like to play with my food. The tried and true is fine, but what if we mixed it up a bit?

When you’re picking up your traditional s’more paraphernalia, pick up a pack of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in addition to the Hershey Bars.

Lay out everything you’re going to need first. A roasting stick, a marshmallow, graham crackers (the original Honey Maid can NOT be beat) and instead of a Hershey Bar half, put a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup on the cracker instead.

Plop your hot marshmallow directly on top of the peanut butter cup and lightly press the other half of the graham cracker on top, but just until the marshmallow oozes out of the sizes.

Now, take a big old bite and don’t worry about getting marshmallow all over your face because it’s summer time and it doesn’t last long.

Indoor S’Mores can capture the taste of summer when it’s raining or cold and you’re craving the taste.

Indoor s’mores are made just like rice krispy treats, but with golden grahams.

Melt 3 tablespoons of butter and bag of marshmallows. Dump in 4 cups of coarsely crushed Golden Grahams cereal and stir until well coated. Allow to cool a bit and stir in a cup of Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chips and press into a lightly greased 13X9 pan.
