Join me Sunday morning at 11 a.m. for the Country Classic Spotlight.  This week we’re shining it on Clay Walker.  The Country Classic Show kicks off at 9 a.m.

Clay was born on August 19, 1969 in Beaumont, Texas.  He grew up on an eight acre spread in Southeastern  Texas.  He learned music from his father, a welder by trade, who started teaching him guitar at age nine.  Clay attended high school in nearby Vidor, where he played basketball with Tracy Byrd.

His career started with quick radio success as his first two singles, What’s It To You and Live Until I Die, which both hit number one.  He has released a total of eleven albums, charted 30 country singles including six number ones.

Clay married rodeo queen Lori Jayne Lampson in 1993.  They had two daughters Maclay, born in 1996 and Skylor, born in 1999.  The couple divorced in 2003.  He married model Jessica Craig on September 28, 2007 and had three more children with her.  The third child, a son named Elijah, was born on June 15th of this year.

In 1996 Clay was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, maintaining that the disease was currently no hindrance to his career.  He has participated in several forms of charity to help raise awareness for MS, including his own non-profit charity, Band Against MS.

Tune in to the Country Classic Show on Sunday morning at 11a.m. to hear Clay’s music and highlights about his life.  The Country Classic Show, every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
