Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight to Feature David Ball

Amazon

David Ball born July 7, 1953 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.  After years on the fringes of Austin’s and Nashville’s music scene, David Ball finally found commercial success in the mid 1990’s with a solid brand of Texas honky tonk,  exemplified by his 1994 Warner Brothers Album “Thinkin Problem.”

Ball, the son of a Baptist minister, started his career appearing on the folk festival circuit.  Ball’s initial attempt to enter the Nashville scene in the late 1980’s was disastrous.  He signed with RCA Records in 1987.  He cut two albums in 1988 and 1989.  None of his three RCA singles went higher than number 46, but after a hiatus, he found new life and a new direction in honky tonk.

Both as a writer and as a musician.  “Thinkin Problem,” hit number two on the Billboard Country Chart in 1994.  In 2001, “Riding with Private Malone” also peaked at number two.  His album “Thinkin Problem,” received a platinum certificate in the U.S.  David Ball singer and song writer has been active in country music since 1988 to the present day.

Sunday June 24th, it’s the music and life of David Ball on the Country Classic Spotlight at 11 AM.  Join me for the Country Classic Show 9 AM to 1 PM every Sunday on 98.1 FM 98 Country.
