Lewey David Frizzell, a younger brother to Lefty Frizzell first topped the charts in 1981 with "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma," a duet he recorded with Shelly West, daughter of the late Dottie West.  Like his brother Lefty, David Frizzell grew up around the oil fields of the Southwest.

In 1956 his family moved to California to be where Lefty, already a star, was living.  David then went on the road with Lefty.  In 1960 David joined the air force.  In 1970 he recorded a version of "L.A. International Airport" that preceded Susan Ray's hit version.  He joined Capital Records in 1973, but it wasn't until "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" was picked up by Warner Brothers and featured in the movie Any Which Way You Can that starred Clint Eastwood, that's when David Frizzell's career took off.

A string of duets with Shelly West ensued, as did, "I'm Gonna Hire a Wino to Decorate Our Home," a number one solo hit for Frizzell in 1982.  Frizzell was born in El Dorado, Arkansas in 1941.  Elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1982.
