Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight to Feature Ed Bruce

Join me at 11 a.m. for the Country Classic Spotlight featuring Ed Bruce.  The Country Classic Show gets underway at 9 a.m. 

Ed Bruce, a multi-talented performer,  has scored big as a hit recording artist, songwriter, actor and a singer of many commercials.  Bruce was born in Keiser, Arkansas on December 29, 1940 and raised in Memphis, Tennessee.

His first Billboard chart record came in 1967 with Walker’s Woods.  He scored with a number one hit in 1981 with You’re The Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had.  As a songwriter Bruce wrote or co-wrote such hits as, The Man That Turned My Mama On and Texas When I Die, recorded by Tanya Tucker and the 1978 number one hit for Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys.

As an actor he appeared in the CBS television miniseries, The Chisholms, and  with James Garner in the Maverick TV series.  He also appeared in several made for TV movies.

Bruce’s very distinctive voice has graced many national broadcast commercials.  Bruce has also hosted the Nashville network shows, American Sports Cavalcade and Truckin’ USA.  Ed Bruce’s career now spans both sides of the Atlantic, he has gained an enormous following in Europe and performs there at least once a year.  Bruce’s son, Trey Bruce, is a songwriter and record producer. Ed Bruce is now 73 years old and still very active.
