Gene Watson born October 11, 1943, known as a no frills, hard country style his entire career.  Watson entered the top ten in 1975 with; “Love in the Hot Afternoon” a song of passion set in New Orleans. His tenor voice is smooth and very expressive.

His signature song is “Farewell Party” hitting number five on the country charts in March 1979.  Watson’s national success continued throughout the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.

Gene Watson quit drinking in 1980 and quit smoking in 1990. He underwent surgery and survived colon cancer in 2000. Gene was inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame in 2002.

This year marks 51 years as a country vocalist. It was 1962 when he began his professional career by recording his first single.
