Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight to Feature Holly Dunn

Singer, songwriter, Holly Dunn was born in San Antonio, Texas August 22, 1957.  Holly emerged in the mid 1980′s and is known for her clear soprano vocals and folk-tinged country.

Born the daughter of a church of Christ preacher.  She graduated from Abilene Christian college in 1979 with a degree in Advertising and public relations.   She moved to Nashville after graduation, where her brother, Chris Waters, was already a songwriter and record producer.  She worked as a demo singer and staff writer, writing for Louise Mandrell.

She wrote “I’m Not Through Loving You Yet,” a top ten hit in 1984.  In 1984 she signed a contract with MTM Records, earning her first top ten hit in 1986, “Daddy’s Hands,” a song she wrote as a Father’s Day gift.  In 1995 she accepted a one year position as a morning drive co-host at WWWW FM radio in Detroit.  In 1998 she went back to Nashville to do more song writing.

She became a cast member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1989.  In 2003 Dunn announced her retirement from her musical career in order to devote full time to her other passion, art.
