Join me on Sunday September 29 hear the music of Sweethearts of the Rodeo at 11 a.m. featuring hits like Midnight Girl/Sunset Town.  The Classic show kicks off at 9 a.m.

Sweethearts of the Rodeo enjoyed a brief run on the country charts between 1986 and 1991.  Janis Oliver was born in Manhattan Beach, California on November 28, 1955 and Kristine was born March 1, 1957.

As children growing up in Los Angeles, the two sisters learned to trade off lead and harmony vocals.  In 1973 they began performing a mix of bluegrass, western swing and country rock as Sweethearts of the Rodeo, a name lifted from The Byrd's 1968 country rock album with the same name.

In 1977, the Sweethearts of the Rodeo opened a show for the group Sundance which included then 19 year old Vince Gill.  Vince and Janis married in 1980.  At that time Vince was a member of Pure Prairie League and Kristine married Leonard Arnold of the band Blue Steel.

Janis and Kristine owned a clothing store in Franklin, Tennessee called Gill and Arnold for a time in the late 1990's.  It has since closed.  Janis and Vince Gill were divorced in 1997.  She remarried in 2000 to Roy Cummins.

Join me every Sunday for the 98 Country Classic Show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
