Join me this Sunday morning, August 11, at 11 a.m. as we put the Class Country Spotlight  on Tim McGraw.  The show kicks off at 9 a.m.

Tim was born in Delhi, Louisiana on May 1, 1967.  He is the child of star baseball pitcher, Tug McGraw, however he grew up as Tim Smith and believed he was the son of a long distance trucker.  He didn't find out about his real father, who played for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, until he was twelve years old.

His goal when he was younger was to be a professional athlete.  A knee injury at Northeastern Louisiana University ended that dream.  He then bought a guitar and started performing at area clubs.

He moved to Nashville in 1989 and oddly enough, arrived on the same day Keith Whitley passed away.  In 1991 Tim landed his first record deal.  It took the song Not a Moment Too Soon to shoot him to stardom.

He's had 11 consecutive albums debut at #1 on the Billboard charts and 25 singles go to #1.  He has three Grammy Awards and 11 Country Music Association Awards under his belt.  His Soul2Soul tour with his wife Faith Hill is the highest grossing tour in country music history.

Not only is Tim a successful country singer, he's also in to acting.  He's had supporting roles in films like Friday Night Lights, The Blind Side and The Kingdom.

He has an interest in politics and has stated that he may run for office one day, possibly for Governor of Tennessee.

Tim will make an appearance at the Minnesota State Fair on September 2nd with special guest Brantley Gilbert.

Tune in to the Country Classic Show each Sunday starting at 9 a.m.
