Join me Sunday morning at 11 a.m. for the Country Classic Spotlight featuring Wynonna Judd.  The Country Classic Show kicks off at 9 a.m.

Wynonna is one of the most recognizable female singers in contemporary country music.  A solo career was thrust on Wynonna in the early 1990's when illness forced Naomi to quit the group known as the Judds.  Wynonna redefined herself musically as she returned in 1992 to the top of the charts for the first time since 1989.  She had help from Dave Loggins, who contributed to her debut hit, She is His Only Need.

Wynonna came back as a platinum seller in her own right, with such exemplary singles as I Saw The Light, No One Else on Earth and A Bad Goodbye, which is a duet with Clint Black.

The Judds, with their occasional infighting and Naomi's hillbilly style and eventual illness, had long been of interest to the tabloids.  Wynonna kept herself in the news by announcing an unintended pregnancy and giving birth out of wedlock to a son, Elijah, in 1994.  Despite confrontations with her domineering mother, Wynonna has leaned heavily on Naomi's guidance in business matters since she went solo.

While Wynonna is most recognized for her musical work she has also pursued other interests including writing, acting and philanthropy.  Wynonna was a contestant on Season 16 of Dancing with the Stars.

She married Arch Kelley III in 1996, who is the father if Elijah, and their daughter Grace Pauline was born on June 21, 1996.  They divorced in 1998.  Wynonna's second husband was her former body guard D.R. Roach, whom she married in November of 2003.  He was arrested for sexual assault of a child under age 13 and she filed for divorce five days later.  Wynonna married her third husband on June 10, 2012, musician Cactus Moser, best known as the drummer for Highway 101.
