The American Red Cross is reporting a shortfall of donations this summer. Sue Thesenga is the Regional Communications Manager for the American Red Cross in Minnesota and the Dakotas. She says it isn't unusual to see a decline in blood donations in the summer.

Officials with the Red Cross are asking healthy people to donate blood during this time of uncertainty.

As the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 approach I remember how helpless I felt that day. I think so many Americans wanted to know what they could do to help and, unfortunately, there was not a lot we could do. The one thing many of us could, and did, do was give blood.
