I am here wishing you and your family a happy Fourth of July! Independence Day is statistically the most dangerous U.S. holiday, with the highest report of injuries out of all the major holidays. The current temperature in the 98 Country studio is 956 degrees. Ok, ok that could be slightly dramatic...but just saying "it's hot in here" really doesn't do it justice. It's so hot I could host a Bikram yoga class in here, seriously. To make matters worse, I wore skinny jeans today, and now I feel like Ross on that episode of 'Friends' where he wears leather pants to a girls house...

I'm sure you've heard this a few times over the last few weeks. "Hot enough for ya?" Yes, it has been hot - so hot in fact that people are scrambling all across the country to beat the heat.

Some are taking to the beach, some are just staying in the air conditioning and some are cooling off in the backyard. But what about our pets? Don't they deserve to cool off too?

Ahhh, sweet, cool breezes…finally, the heat has broken and today’s high of 85 seems so reasonable after what we’ve been through for the last few days. Though cooler temperatures probably averted a trip to the loony bin for some of us, I did grab my opportunity yesterday while it was still scorching to bake some cookies in my car. Yeah, you heard me; I baked cookies in my car!

This heat has done weird things to my brain. It actually sounds like a good idea to use this string of dripping, sweaty, oppressive, knock-you-over, sweltering days to cook food in the hottest place I can find - the inside of my car. After today’s experiment it’s pretty obvious that, even though I won’t be turning it on for the next few days, I also won’t be giving up my oven anytime soon.
