Not for these toy cars. Things move along pretty briskly in this demonstration of California artist Chris Burden‘s “Metropolis II,” an installation that features more than 1,100 Hot Wheels cars and 13 toy trains in perpetual motion. It’s a big step up from “Metropolis I,” which had a mere 80 cars. In part deux, each car passes through the tiny city about 90 times every hour. This 18-lane mega-model took a team of 12 over four years to construct in Burden’s Topanga Canyon studio.
