The Minnesota Vikings and defensive end Jared Allen officially parted ways over the weekend. The move is no surprise, and I think it was time for the relationship to end. Just seemed to me that his production was way, way down last season. This should be an interesting free agent week.
Four Vikings were named to the NFC Pro Bowl team when the NFC and AFC Pro Bowl teams were announced. The four are running back Adrian Peterson, fullback Jerome Felton, kicker Blair Walsh and defensive end Jared Allen. Peterson is named to his 5th Pro Bowl team. Felton and Walsh are first time pro bowlers.
The Vikings have given running back Adrian Peterson and defensive end Jared Allen a break this week. Both missed practice Thursday for precautionary reasons. Peterson has a sprained left ankle and Allen has been bothered by a groin injury. Both are expected to play Sunday when the Vikings host Arizona at noon, pregame on WJON at 11am.

Others that didn't practice include; receiver Michael Jenkins (ribs), safety Mistral Raymond (ankle) and safety Andrew Sendejo (ankle). The following were limited in practice; linebacker Erin Henderson (concussion), guard Charlie Johnson (back), quarterback Christian Ponder (knee), cornerback Marcus Sherels (quad) and cornerback Antoine Winfield (knee).

The Minneapolis Star Tribune is reporting that Viking defensive end Jared Allen is the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. The NFL season ending awards were announced Tuesday.
