Maybe our New Year's resolutions always fail because we resolve to do the wrong things. Every once in a while, I have a deep thought or two about what's really important in life. Kids will often make a person think that way.
And I wondered, if my child were to come up with my New Year's resolution, what would SHE think I should work on?

Back in the ’60s, corporal punishment was common practice for a shocking 94 percent of parents in the US. While a lot of us may find this number unsettling, just as many don’t. In fact, half of all parents today admitted to punishing children by “spanking on the bottom with a bare hand” to a telephone poll conducted by the National Institutes for Mental Health.

November 8, 2011 I continue my tour of our local high schools in search of great productions hitting their stage. This week my adventures take me to the stage at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School for their take on 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'.
Parents, like me, know that kids can give us so much darn grief. So, if we can give them just a little, tiny bit of grief, we not only deserve it - we should enjoy it. And I enjoyed these parents telling their kids, "I ate all your Halloween candy" so very, very much! Thanks Jimmy Kimmel.
