Kristin Wolford (an Albany graduate) has been working as a missionary in the Dominican Republic and wanted to do more to help people there in need. So, she’s teamed up with ImpactLives, a Minneapolis-based, non-profit organization with a food-distribution program that allows people of all ages to get involved in the battle against hunger and this weekend you can get involved when you gather to make a difference, one meal at a time.

This Saturday, April 14th, over 1200 volunteers from churches, schools, businesses, and other community organizations will gather at the Albany High School, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to package 231,120 meals, 1320 boxes, of food to fill a full container during the Albany Area Hunger Challenge. The food and the needed donations will be sent to help people in the Dominican Republic.

Volunteers of all ages are needed to package food in two-hour shifts throughout the day on Saturday. Individuals, families, friends, church groups, school groups, organizations, clubs—anyone is invited to volunteer.

The immediate need is money to pay for the fortified food and shipping. One box of food costs $54.00 and will feed a family of six for one month. Any donated amount is very much appreciated.

Volunteers can sign up and donations can be made online at www.albanyhungerchallenge.com.
