The Things You Post On Social Media Can Come Back To Haunt You

Social Media

I try not to put anything out on social media that I wouldn’t share with a big group of people standing in front of me because you can try to hide those inappropriate things but they’ll always comes come back to bite you when you least expect it.

Writing about all the shenanigans you pulled over the weekend or posting pictures from that crazy party you were at might seem like fun but according to an article on MSN, it can hinder your chances of even getting an interview for a job.

It makes total sense.  When a company hires you, you’re representing them. Everything you do is a reflection of them.  So when it comes to hiring someone, who do you think they’re going to pick?  The person who talks about how drunk they were at a party this weekend or the person who has a pretty tame Facebook/Twitter page.  There’s a pretty easy answer to that.

I’ve seen what kids that are the same age as my siblings put out on social media and I have to wonder if they’ll regret it later.  Social media is a great way to keep up with people but I don’t think it was ever meant to be a day to day biography.

What do you think?
