These Are The Things That Helped me Survive my Sickness… And Also What my Uncle Suggested to Fight it Off

Matt Fallon

Tuesday was the worst day I’ve had in a long time.

I can tell you that I don’t get sick often and when I do, it’s usually over after one day of rest… not the case earlier this week. Since last Friday I started feeling a little sick, mostly just stuffy and coughing a little bit… but by Monday night, Brittany said I looked like a ghost I was so pale. Things got bad from that point on.

Tuesday morning I woke up, barely, and started getting ready to come in to the station. It didn’t take long before I realized going into the station would be bad… for everybody. So I text Pete and let him know I was sick… that was my entire day, literally, I took some cough syrup, had a warm glass of tea with honey and PASSED OUT. I slept the entire day away on Tuesday. Combined, I was probably awake for two, maybe three hours. I thought for sure I would be ready to get back to work on Wednesday. Nope.

I woke up on Wednesday and nothing changed. Still felt AWFUL. This is new to me. So again, I text Pete and let him know I need one more day to try nurse myself back to health before being in others company. Wednesday wasn’t so bad… I slept in until about 10:30 and then woke up. After that, it was orange juice, tea, warm water with honey, water… I NEEDED LIQUIDS! I felt so dehydrated.

As you can see from the picture above, I took plenty of stuff to try and get better, but I had no idea my uncle had the home remedy to make all things better in no time at all.

My uncle as always told me, even when I was around 15-years-old… heat up and drink a cup of Blackberry Brandy and you’ll feel better within minutes.
Blackberry Brandy… I wish I would have remembered that Tuesday or yesterday, those cough syrups take awful.
