So you say to yourself, "there's just nothing fun to do this weekend." Well my friend, you would be wrong. There's a great event happening in Becker this weekend that's fun for the entire family!

Becker Freedom Days is going on this week and the big festivities happen on Saturday with a parade, entertainment and the Power Tool Drag Races! What in the world is a power tool drag race? Well, it is just what it sounds like... power tools being raced against each other.

The Becker American Legion Post 193 will host the drag races starting at 1pm at the American Legion (the old fire hall). When I met Milo from the American Legion, he explained what the drag races are to me because I had never heard of it before. You take any power tool, create a racer out of it, plug it in and send it down the track. If you win, you move on the finals. They have belt sanders, skill saws and other tools converted into racing machines that can get up to 50+ miles per hour down the track.

The Becker American Legion is more than just a place to hold the drag races. The American Legion is a place for our veterans to continue to serve their community. The American Legion gives money to local sports teams, community programs and provides volunteers for many community events, community clean up and other programs.

Check out the video from the Becker American Legion on Power Tool Drag Racing and get ready to watch your kids eyes light up when they take off down the track on Saturday!
