Meet Tito. He is our mostly loveable 6 year old furry kid who was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Philadelphia  two years ago. They told us that Tito only had two days left in the shelter before he would be euthanized. So, through a no-kill shelter that I volunteered for at the time, we rescued him and decided we would "foster" him until a wonderful home was found. Two years later, Tito is part of OUR family. We are what they call a "foster failure" and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Tito had a rough start in life. Terribly abused and neglected, he became fearful of strangers. In fact, even though he's come a long way since then, he's still very guarded and can be a bit suspicious when he meets someone he doesn't know. That is why Jay and I were a little nervous when it was time to make his Dr. appointment this week!

We explained Tito's situation to Dr. Gerds and we waited for her to....well, we weren't sure what she would do. She and the wonderful vet tech, Nichole, talked to Tito, gave him treats, and then very gently took him into the next room to give him his shots. I didn't hear any barking. There were no shouts of panic from anyone. A few minutes later, Tito came walking back to us as though nothing had just happened. I could breath again.

For those of you who have pets, you understand this. Tito is my kid. One of several. And I worry about them just like any Mom would. So when you find people who understand, and who don't look at you like you're crazy when you bring your mostly but not always loveable furry kid with issues to them, you are grateful.
