Remember, the Top 98 of 2014 countdown show is on your radio starting at 9AM on New Year's Eve & New Year's Day. With only 5 days left to get in your votes for your favorite tunes of 2014, you might wonder...how do we determine where each song goes in the countdown?
And that's a very good question. There are so many songs released each year independently and from record labels, the process can seem quite overwhelming at times. For that reason, I've enlisted a little help in organizing all 98 songs of this year...as Intern Jeremy is busy in the spreadsheet as I speak...err write!

Lots of countdowns are arranged in lots of different ways. The most important criteria in organizing this first-ever year-end countdown show on 98 Country is:

  • song position on the two major country charts
  • your Central Minnesota votes as a part of 98 Nation

No offense to so many great independent artists creating memorable music, but there has to be some way way to organize all the most popular music of the year. In July of 1940, Billboard Magazine published it's first Music Popularity Chart, and 74 years later they have developed 2 charts for use with our countdown ordering. The Billboard Country Airplay Chart counts the popularity of songs based on the number of radio plays across the country. The Billboard Hot Country Chart monitors not only airplay, but digital downloads and online streaming of songs. But then some songs are in the same position on both charts...so what then?

That's where YOUR voice counts, local folks! What's popular in Coastal Carolina or West Texas isn't necessarily the same as it is in Central Minnesota. So let your voice be heard, and vote below and listen around the New Year for the Top 98 of 2014 :D
