The Twins have agreed to terms on a 1-year contract with an option for a 2nd year with closer Matt Capps.  Capps reportedly will receive $4.75 Million in 2012 and $6 Million with a team option for 2013.  Capps was 4-7 with a 4.25 ERA with 15 saves in 2011.  He began the season as the closer but lost the job to Joe Nathan.  Nathan signed a 2-year contract last month with Texas.

Capps reportedly played much of the season with sore forearm that may have contributed to his lack of success.  Capps has spend parts of the last 2 seasons with the Twins.

The Twins are also rumored to be strongly pursuing outfielder Michael Cuddyer this week and have remained in contract with free agent outfielder Jason Kubel.
