US Can Advance With World Cup Win Over Portugal Tonight

An American win over Portugal in this evening's World Cup match will propel the US men into the round of 16 -- eliminating Portugal's hopes of advancing. Fellow Group G teams Germany & Ghana played to a 2-2 draw yesterday, setting up the USA's opportunity for advancement to the 'knockout round.'

A victory tonight would mark the first time in the USA's World Cup history that the team would have secured advancement into the second round, while still having a first round match remaining (6/26 vs. Germany).
