The Minnesota Vikings (1-1) fell to the visiting New England Patriots (1-1) 30-7 this afternoon at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, just two days after their star running back Adrian Peterson was indicted on charges of abusing his 11 year-old son.

Matt Cassel took the Vikings 80 yards on the opening drive for a touchdown and an early, promising 7-0 lead -- but it was all Patriots from that point on. Matt Cassel went on to throw four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown). To add insult to injury, New England blocked a field goal with only seconds remaining in the first half; returning it for a touchdown, taking a 24-7 lead into the half.

The Vikings never recovered, and chants of "Teddy, Teddy," could be heard from the fans -- referring to Minnesota's rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Adrian Peterson, deactivated by the team for today's game, was not in attendance at the stadium.

The The Vikings travel to New Orleans next Sunday to face the Saints at Noon on Fox.
