Warning: Fake Apple Ad Tricks Many Into Ruining Their iPhones

Don't believe it. Don't fall for it. Don't do it. A fake advertisement appeared on Facebook and Twitter telling iPhone owners that if they upgraded to iOS 7, their phone would become waterproof. Many people believed it, tried it, and turned the iPhone into garbage.

The iOS 7 update released by Apple last week introduces all kinds of new features (and a new look), but making your phone waterproof is not one of them.

The story appearing in The Independent reports that the spoof originated on the notorious online forum 4chan.
