What To Eat At Target Field When You’re On A Healthy Journey

You’ll notice I didn’t use the word diet in the title. That’s a bad word. I prefer healthy journey when talking about my quest to lose weight and get in shape. And since Doug and I have begun our “Dog Pounds” campaign to lose weight combined with raising money for the Tri-County Humane Society, this journey just got a whole lot more serious!

Fortunately, I have the most amazing trainer, Nate, at Rejuv. He kicks my butt in the gym a couple times a week, and he helps me to get back on track when I’ve lost my way! (which is exactly what has happened over the past couple of weeks)  His guidance, along with the support of my work-out partners Heather and Katie, have made all the difference!

For instance, the other day during a work-out I told them I would be heading to Target Field next week when Jay’s beloved Phillies come to town to meet my beloved Twins. So what do I eat at the game? There are a lot of choices, but not always good ones. They offer a veggie burger, but it comes on a white bun. Sort of defeats the purpose. The veggie stir-fry might work, minus all the oil. But cheese curds are what really call my name at the game, and I don’t even want to know how many miles I’d have to walk to get rid of those calories and fat.

Fortunately, you are allowed to bring your own food to Target Field! Katie suggested apple slices and peanut butter, one of my favorite healthy snacks. Grapes are good. Maybe some string cheese. Okay, it’s not cheese curds, but if I stay focused on all the animals who will benefit from the money raised with every pound I lose, I can do this. I wonder if the ice cream at Target Field is low-fat? Hmmmmm.

If you would like to make a pledge to the Tri-County Humane Society during our “Dog Pounds” journey, it will help to keep us motivated all summer long. Doug and I both love animals and we thought this would be a fun and healthy way to make a difference.

Thanks!       Make your pledge here
