Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning? [VIDEO]

Alan Jackson wrote a song following the September 11th attacks in 2001 called ‘Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning‘ that every American could relate to. It was a song that gave words to the feelings that we didn’t know how to express.

So I am now asking you to remember that day with me by telling your story – Where were you that September day?

I was a junior in high school on September 11th 2001. I don’t even think we had been in class a week. When I got to school I went to the cafeteria to hang out with my friends before homeroom, just like I did every morning. I was standing around a table with about 20 other people when a friend of mine came through the cafeteria doors, looked at us and said “a plane crashed into a building in New York!” He grabbed a cafeteria chair, slid it over to the nearest television, and stepped up on it to turn the channel to CNN. The picture on the TV screen from that exact moment will forever be engraved in my brain. There was in fact a plane, in a building, in New York City. There was smoke, fire, and fear in the eyes of the CNN reporter.

The rest of the day is kind of a blur. I remember every television in the school was constantly on CNN, and the horrific news just kept coming. Everyone was terrified.

It’s been 10 years and I want to say THANK YOU to all the men and women in the service putting their lives on the line every day for our freedom. I also want to say THANK YOU to all the police officers, firefighters, and first responders who have made it their mission to keep us safe every day.

Please help us all to remember by sharing your story. Where were you on September 11th 2001?
