White Castle Taking Reservations for Valentine’s Day? WHAT?!

I was driving down Division yesterday and looked up at the White Castle sign and saw something I thought was a joke. The sign read "Call (insert number here) to make your Valentine's Reservations."

I immediately thought, oh haha, they are making fun of the fact that most places that are "romantic" are already booked up and they want people to come into their restaurant as a last resort. It turns out, they are actually being serious.

White Castle launched this program several years ago and actually take reservations for Valentine's Day dinner. They serve you at your table and make it as nice as they can.

Here's the problem I have with this. I have never claimed to be a romantic of any sort. However, there are things that just don't go together. Like grilled, onion-infused patties on a small bun ON Valentine's Day. When I think of a romantic dinner to tell the one I truly love that they are the one for me, I think of a nice candle lit dinner in a fancy restaurant where a jacket is probably preferred not required, but preferred. I would even go as far as to say Olive Garden would be an ok choice for a nice, romantic meal.

White Castle does not fit my idea of romantic. When these tiny burgers are more commonly known as "gut bombs" are on the menu, it just doesn't scream "Honey I love you!"

Don't get me wrong, if you like White Castle, go eat it. That's great. But if you are taking your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/best friend out for a Valentine's meal, I would highly recommend you plan for linen tablecloths, linen napkins and a waiter in a jacket.

Am I the only one who thinks this isn't a great idea for Valentine's Day? Ladies, what would your reaction be if your man drove up to the White Castle and said, let's go have dinner!

Guys, if you do this, make sure your couch is already moved into the dog house... you'll be there a while!
