The Minnesota Wild shut out the lowly Florida Panthers for two periods, then held on for a 3-2 win Friday night at Xcel Energy Center.

The Wild (12-4-4) scored a pair of goals in the first period to take control of the game early on. Zach Parise scored his tenth of the season on a power play five minutes into the opening period, and Jason Pominville notched his 12th of the year at the 13:38 mark.

After a scoreless second period, the Panthers notched a pair of early third period goals to tie the game at two.

Charlie Coyle got the game-winner for Minnesota, his second of the season, at 11:38 of the third.

The Wild host Winnipeg Sunday at Xcel Energy Center.
