The Minnesota Wild stopped a franchise-worst six game regulation losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres Thursday night at Xcel Energy Center.  The Wild outshot the Sabres 31-20 in the game.

The teams were scoreless until Wild defenseman Marco Scandella scored his second goal of the season at 4:33 of the second period, followed by Jason Pominville’s eventual game-winner at 6:19 that made the score 2-0.

Jason Zucker gave Minnesota a 3-0 lead with a goal at 16:09 of the second period, and the teams went into the second intermission with the Wild outshooting the Sabres 23-12.

Matt Ellis scored with just over a minute remaining in the game to ruin Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom’s bid for a shutout. Minnesota got the goal back on Kyle Brodziak’s tally at 19:34.

The Wild are now 21-17-5 and will host Washington on Saturday night in St. Paul.
