The Minnesota Wild beat the New York Islanders 6-0 Tuesday night at Nassau Coliseum. Former Islander Matt Moulson scored a pair of goals in his return to New York to lead Minnesota to the win.

Moulson started the scoring for the Wild at 12:23 of the first period. Just over three and a half minutes later, Jared Spurgeon slapped a one-timer from Dany Heatley past Islanders goalie Anders Nilsson for a 2-0 Minnesota lead after one period.

Mikael Granlund made it 3-0 on shot from in close at 16:02 of the second period, his seventh of the season. The Wild outshot New York 11-8 in the second period but trailed 24-17 in shots overall through two.

The Wild pulled away in the third period beginning with Clayton Stoner's impressive breakaway backhand goal at 4:56, tucked just under the crossbar. Stoner came out of the penalty box and took the puck in stride to the net for a 4-0 lead.

Justin Fontaine made it 5-0 at 7:06 when he snapped a shot under the crossbar that initially was ruled not to be a goal. Play continued for over a minute of game time until a whistle stopped play and Fontaine's shot was reviewed.

Moulson capped the scoring with a power play goal on a rebound late in the third for the 6-0 Wild win. Ilya Bryzgalov made 36 saves to earn the shutout in goal for Minnesota.
