The Minnesota Timberwolves opened a big early lead then held on for dear life in the fourth quarter of a 132-128 win at Denver Monday night. The Wolves led 40-25 after the first quarter but watched Denver score 79 points in the second half to make the game close.

Kevin Love scored 33 points on 10-21 shooting while pulling down 19 rebounds for the Wolves in the win. Kevin Martin scored 22 points despite shooting just 3-11 from the floor thanks to a 16-17 night at the free throw line.

Ty Lawson led Denver with 31 points on 11-16 shooting, including 3-4 from three point range. Former Wolf Randy Foye scored 22 points in the loss.

Minnesota continues to chip away at their deficit in the Western Conference playoff race, as they now trail Dallas by five games for the final playoff spot.
