Each Wednesday at 8 a.m. I join Cindy and Doug for the Country Classic Flashback.  We take a trip down memory lane to highlight a country legend.  This week we are featuring Glen Campbell.

He was born Glen Travis Campbell on April 22, 1936 in the small town of Delight, Arkansas.  Glen is best known as a gifted singer and accomplished guitarist with a string of pop country hits released in the 1960′s and 1970′s.   Some of his most popular tunes include Galveston, Rhinestone Cowboy, Gentle on my Mind and By The Time I Get to Phoenix.

Glen was alson an actor, having appeared alongside John Wayne in the movie “True Grit”.  He even filled in for the Smothers Brothers one summer and scored his own television show, The Glen Campbell Good Time Hour on TV.

His personal life was filled with drama.  He has been married four times and is the father of eight kids.  He had an affair with fellow country artist Tanya Tucker that exploded and resulted in allegations of abuse.  He straightened out his life and in 2011 he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

Tune in at 8 a.m. every Wednesday for Country Classic Flashback brought to you by Midwest Machinery with 9 locations in Central Minnesota including Sauk Rapids.
